- SUCCESS STORIES
Siddharth was born on December 11, 2003, like any other boy. That day brought both joy and sorrow for us, as Siddharth had suffered stroke on the first day of his life. Medical treatment was started immediately as advised by the doctors. This was the beginning of our journey
We noticed that Siddharth was not developing like his peers. He achieved sitting at nine months. He did not crawl till the age of 11 months. We consulted a pediatrician when he was one year old. The doctor told us that Siddharth had a physical defect. Since that day Siddharth’s and our struggle began. When Siddharth was one and half year old, we went to Physiotherapy Department of V. S. Hospital Ahmedabad for Siddharth's physiotherapy. We met Prof. Dr. Shraddha Diwan. Siddharth was suspected to have cerebral palsy and his physiotherapy was started then. Siddharth started speaking in three and a half years of age. And our challenges continued so on. we started looking for his admission in the school. The schools were reluctant to admit him as he was not able to walk independently. He procured admission in Divine Life School, a more popular school in Vasna, area in Ahmedabad. But problems didn’t end here, Siddharth lagged behind the other children in reading and writing. Moreover, complaints of bad writing, homework and class work were very frequent for him.
We discussed this problem with Dr. Shraddha. she counseled us patiently and advised us to indulge in the activities in which Siddharth has interest and could develop in addition to his studies. Thus, Siddharth learned to draw, to play Casio, to skate, to dance, to play chess, and participated in various sports. In doing all this, Siddharth became more interested in sports. From here, things got trickier for Siddharth.
Siddharth also underwent physiotherapy and participated in sports like running, badminton, cycling, baseball, ring throw etc at Polio Foundation, Ahmedabad. We are grateful to the Polio Foundation, now known as the Health and Care Foundation. Many a times, Siddharth was not allowed to participate in sports in the school as he had physical challenges and so likely to be injured. As a part of his treatment, he underwent the surgery to improve his walking in 2010 and 2013, but no significant improvement was seen. At this time Mr. Anilbhai and Mr. Ashokbhai of Polio Foundation encouraged Siddharth. Their selfless efforts motivated Siddharth to participate in the sports. He also won few competitions.
In some competitions he secured first or second positions and won few medals and trophies. He also participated in the Divyangotsav at the kankaria Gymnasium and received many prizes and certificates. He took part in khel Maha kumbh and succeeded in here too. Since then, Siddharth's self- confidence grew, and he started looking for opportunities to excel in the sports. One day Prof. Dr. Shraddha informed us about the Cerebral Palsy National Championship to be held at Nadiad., Siddharth participated in discus throw and javelin throw. He won two gold medals. We felt that there was an opportunity to move forward in the field of sports. So, we contacted the C.N. Sports Academy and started his coaching for athletics.
Siddharth then joined The Society of Physically Handicapped, Para Sports Association of Gujarat, Paldi, Ahmedabad which provided him training and guidance for para sports. The administrators of this institute were Mr. Kantibhai and Mr. Gauravbhai updated us about National Sports taking place throughout the year We are really grateful to them.

Life need not have limits. Having an opportunity in life is important but what defines you is what you do with that opportunity
